Be Prepared

Fall and winter are hunting seasons, when the trails and the land you cross may be open to hunting. Be safe by being prepared. Remember to wear blaze orange, leave your pet(s) at home, and avoid hiking during the dawn and dusk hours when visibility is restricted. In Massachusetts, hunting in prohibited on Sundays.

Be sure to be familiar with all the latest Massachusetts Hunting info.

If you are leading hikes outside Massachusetts, check with the Fish & Game department of the particular state for more information on the state's current hunting season.

Winter Hiking Workshop 2022

PRESENTATION SLIDES: Winter Hiking Workshop 2022: Slides (PDF)

A big thank you to all that attended the Winter Hiking Workshop! We had a great turn out for the presentations, gear demos, post workshop hike and of course smores at the firepit.

This is the first step in becoming an avid winter hiker. Please look for other winter events and hikes listed on the AMC Worcester Chapter website. Search for the EXPLORE YOUR INNER WINTER HIKER series. The next event will be the gear shakedown, hope to see you all there. There are 3 sessions available in December. And thank you to all of the leaders that helped out to make this a very successful event.
